Craniosacral Therapy
Craniosacral supports the unwinding & releasing of deep patterns that have held us in disconnection, stress & trauma & can manifest as migraines, anxiety & pain and much more.
What is Craniosacral Therapy?
Craniosacral therapy is a gentle but profound, powerful hands-on therapy which identifies pain and tensions held in the body.
Craniosacral therapy supports the nervous system to regulate the body's natural tendency to find health and optimum balance, by relieving the body of its tensions and restrictions.
I am a trauma informed therapist having trained with Gabor Maté and am a constant student of polyvagal theory and the work of Bessel Van Der Kolk, Peter Levine and many other teachers.
As a holistic therapy, craniosacral therapy may help people in almost any condition by raising their vitality and facilitating their own self-healing process.
Some of my clients include people who experience the following conditions and much more.
Anxiety & Depression
Back & Joint Pains
Shock & Stress
RSI & TMJ
Whiplash & Post Operative Support
Sciatica & Sinusitus
Accidents & Injuries
Migranes
Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle and non-invasive treatment and is often recommended for babies who experience various issues including feeding difficulties, colic and sleep problems, those from problem-free births as well as babies from traumatic births.
I love how Craniosacral Therapy honours the whole of a person’s system, the complex interweaving of body, mind, spirit and energy.
What to expect from a treatment?
I always take a thorough case history at the first consultation which is usually an hour and a half. Follow-ups last about an hour. This is a light touch therapy over your clothes. The priority in the treatment is your comfort, so we find a way for you to lie down that works for you. I will usually begin at your feet and I will then work in different places according to what is happening for you, this may mean taking up a contact somewhere under your spine, including under your sacrum and I will also work at your cranium. Some people find talking helpful during the treatment, other people like to drop into the restorative relaxation that craniosacral therapy brings and not talk. Some people do both.
Sometimes I will do some gentle fascial unwinding if that feels appropriate for your system. Craniosacral therapy involves deep listening and stillness from the practitioner and it can be a powerful experience to be held in such reverence. Afterwards, you may feel deeply relaxed and a bit sleepy or quite refreshed and energised depending on what your system was needing from the treatment. I offer treatments in the comfort of your own home.
Distant Craniosacral Therapy
I offer distance Craniosacral treatments. The deep listening that I hold in person can also be done intentionally from anywhere. I am one of the teachers on the postgraduate Distant Craniosacral Therapy training offered by CCST. These sessions will also involve a case history and then I will invite you to make yourself comfortable, we will stay in audible contact throughout. My clients report the distant sessions feel very similar to in person treatments.
Compassionate Inquiry Informed Craniosacral Therapy
Both in person and distant treatments are informed by my training in Compassionate Inquiry training and there are times when this psychotherapeutic method weaves its way into the Craniosacral Therapy treatments.
